We also offer four-hour and day-long ecotours.  Additional walks/ecotours may be scheduled by arrangement with QRWC.

Monthly Interpretive Walks 

Please call 530-219-4477 to schedule a walk on the first Saturday of each month, from about 2 to 6 p.m. (depending on daylight of the season). They are free and open to the public, though memberships and donations are gratefully accepted. The schedule for the coming months is as follows:

Quail Ridge Wilderness Conservancy
WALK SCHEDULE--JANUARY-DECEMBER

 PLEASE SAVE THIS NOTICE and call Quail Ridge Wilderness Conservancy's Executive  Director, Frank Maurer, at Cel: (530) 219-4477 at least one day before each walk to sign  up for participation. Memberships in and/or donations to the Conservancy are  gratefully accepted.
 Note: We now have an ultrasonic listening device with us on our walks to hear bats in  the evening while they fly and eat.

 FOR ALL WALKS, BRING A PICNIC SNACK, DRINKING WATER & SUN PROTECTION  AS NEEDED.

JANUARY (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. A winter walk in who-knows-what-kind-of weather? Be prepared for rain, though9he skies may be clear and balmy. This walk includes a talk about the human history of the Berryessa area..

FEBRUARY (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. Precocious spring flowers should be in evidence. This walk includes a talk about human history of the area.

MARCH (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE.  The Reserve is beautifully green and lush during this month, and bedecked with many beautiful wildflowers. This walk includes a talk about human history of the area.

APRIL (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE CELEBRATING EARTH DAY. Wildflowers will be at or near their best. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the month in which the world observes Earth Day.

MAY (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE.. Early May is delightful on the Reserve, with spring flowers and burgeoning growth of other native plants visible all around. The walk includes a talk about human history of the area.

JUNE (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. Early summer at the Reserve will please the senses with green perennial bunchgrasses, a few lingering spring flowers, and fragrant late afternoon zephyrs.

1st Weekend JULY (Saturday) & 2nd Weekend August (Saturday). GUIDED WALKS ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE.  The Reserve in July and August shows off dry upland forest habitat at its finest--a mosaic of native grasses, oak woodland, and chaparral, all harboring thriving species, adapted to limited water.

SEPTEMBER (Saturday) & OCTOBER (Saturday). GUIDED WALK ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE. The Reserve's bunchgrasses in October still look green, even after a long drought season; the other plants patiently await winter rains.

NOVEMBER (Saturday) & DECEMBER (Saturday). GUIDED WALKS ON QUAIL RIDGE RESERVE.  Some autumnal flowers will still be in evidence on the Reserve in November, and native bunchgrasses will show off their greenery in both November and December. The air in both months will be moist and fragrant and the weather still comfortably mild.


ALL WALK PARTICIPANTS SHOULD MEET AT THE RESEARCH FARM* AT 1 or 2 P.M. (depending on season)
TO CARPOOL TO THE RESERVE, unless otherwise instructed. . We return from the walks between 6 and 8 p.m.,
depending on season. All participants must leave the Reserve at the same

*The Research Farm is located at 25344 County Road 95, 0.6 mile north of
Road 31 (called Covell Blvd. in Davis).

KEEP THIS PERENNIAL SCHEDULE BOOKMARKED: there are only minor date adjustments each year; the days (Saturdays of the respective months) remain the same.

A QR Reserve Evening Walk. Treat someone to one of our “nature and culture” private evening walks on the Reserve—they are educational and a lot of fun with delicious finger foods and a selection of wines and other beverages. Your gift recipient chooses the date from our schedule.
($150 for a tour of four people, which includes gift memberships as well as gift items.)

A Special Private Walk (Day or Evening). Take a group of up to 10 friends for this special walk on Quail Ridge Reserve; complimentary wine and finger foods included.
($200 donation for 10, or free with a total of $400 of memberships, including gift items.)

* These special walks can be tailored to adapt to your group, large or small.
