The Plight of the Hellbender. The Hellbender is a neotenous* form of the largest US salamander. Its range covers 15 states, but its numbers are decreasing. Climate change, pollution, and habitat loss, Challenge the existence of this fascinating creature, Which must live in cold, clear flowing water.
