Can Slavery Really be Justified? There were 'original' arguments to justify slavery by quoting the bible. Then, finally, with Martin Luther King, most realized the horrors of slavery. Now at the beginning of the 21st century, Southern politicians (from Florida, for one) are audaciously blurting out That slavery was good for a slave-- 'Became civilized, had shelter, learned skills, could read. . . .
