CALIFORNIA MENTAL HEALTH ROADMAP
KQED Public Broadcasting:   Hope on the Street

Please note: This site has been retired from the KQED website but is so valuable it is being included via the Wayback website which archives web pages.  This roadmap is one of the few websites that distinguishes between private health insurance and public mental health services and how to access those services.

Looking for the right mental health services often begins by entering a confusing maze of choices. This Roadmap provides practical information that helps find services whether you have private health insurance or you enter into the public health system, specifically, California's 59 County mental health system.

This Roadmap also offers helpful tips for managing an emergency or crisis situation, understanding mental illness and mental wellness, and finding services and support for clients in need.

Some of the contact information may be incorrect but the content is one of the most helpful in learning about mental health services in California and how to access them.
